Setting Up Your Rig

Pick your RV type and add a few details so everything fits your rig.
Free — in the free app

The first time you open CampSavvy it asks what you camp in. Your answers shape everything else: the leveler's math, which checklist items you see, and your maintenance schedule.

Pick your RV type, then fill in a few details.
Pick your RV type, then fill in a few details.

The details

  1. RV type — Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Toy Hauler, Pop-Up / Teardrop, Class A, Class B / Van, Class C or Truck Camper.
  2. Name (optional) — what you call it, like "Newmar Dutch Star".
  3. Width and length — the leveler uses these. We fill in typical sizes; for the most accurate leveling, measure yours:
    • Width: wheel to wheel, center of one tire to the center of the other.
    • Length: on a towable, the hitch to the axle (or the middle of the axles). On a motorhome, the wheelbase — front axle to rear axle.
  4. Fuel — gas or diesel. On a towable, this is your truck's fuel, used for trip fuel costs.
  5. MPG and fuel tank size (optional) — used to work out gallons, fuel cost and fuel stops on trips. On a towable, use your truck's MPG while towing.
  6. Height, length and loaded weight (optional) — overall height to the top of the AC, length bumper to bumper (truck and trailer together for a towable). Saved for RV-safe routes. You can type height like 13' 6".
  7. Current mileage (motorhomes, optional) — for mileage-based maintenance.
  8. Has a generator — adds generator items to your schedule and specs.

Other vehicles

Drive more than one thing — a truck with two trailers, a second RV, or the car on some trips? Add them in Settings → Your vehicles and pick one per trip. See Planning a Trip.

Changing it later

Go to Settings (the gear on Home) → Your rig. Changing the RV type, fuel or generator rebuilds your checklists and schedule to match. Service dates you've already logged are kept.

Your own checklists and any maintenance items you added yourself are never touched when the rig changes.
