Help and support
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. For step-by-step guides with pictures, see the user manual.
Leveler
How do I use the leveler?
Lay your phone flat on the floor inside the rig with the top of the phone pointing toward the hitch (or the windshield on a motorhome). The app tells you which side to raise, by how much, and how many blocks. Tap Hold reading to freeze it while you walk outside.
The numbers seem off. What should I do?
First, calibrate: set your phone on a surface you know is level (check it with a carpenter's level), then tap Calibrate on the leveler. Next, enter your rig's real measurements in Settings → Your rig: the width between the wheels, and hitch-to-axle (trailers) or wheelbase (motorhomes). Phone cases with a bump can also tilt the phone — lay it on a flat spot.
It says to raise the wrong side.
A few phones report tilt in the opposite direction. Go to Settings → Leveler and turn on Swap left and right or Swap front and back. Test it by lifting the left edge of the phone — it should say to raise the right side.
What block size should I pick?
Most stacking leveling blocks are about 1 inch tall per layer. If yours are thicker, change it in Settings → Leveler so the block count is right.
Checklists
Can I change the checklists?
With Pro you can edit any list and make your own. Open a checklist and tap Edit to add or remove items. Tap Start over to uncheck everything for your next trip.
I changed my rig type and my lists changed.
The built-in checklists and maintenance schedule are made for your rig type, so switching between a trailer and a motorhome rebuilds them. Your own checklists, service log and logged dates are kept.
Maintenance
Why does everything say "Not logged"?
CampSavvy doesn't know when you last did each job yet. Tap an item and choose Mark done today, or log it with the real date. From then on, it tracks when it's due next.
How do I change how often something is due?
Open the item and change the months (and miles, for motorhomes) under How often. Every rig and climate is different — adjust to what your manuals and your tech recommend.
Tanks and reminders
Why doesn't the app read my tank sensors?
Most RV tank monitors don't share their readings with other apps. Tap the tank to match your monitor panel — and use Dumped or Filled to reset quickly.
How do tank reminders work?
With Pro, go to Tanks → Reminders and set how many days you usually go, like "Dump black every 4 days." The countdown restarts each time you tap Dumped (or Filled for fresh water), and your phone sends a notification when it's time.
I'm not getting notifications.
Check that notifications are allowed for CampSavvy in your phone's Settings app, and that Remind me when due is on (for maintenance) or a day count is set (for tanks). Focus or Do Not Disturb modes can also hide them.
Campgrounds and trips
How do I find campgrounds?
With Pro, open the Camps tab, type a town and state or a ZIP (or tap the target to search near you) and pick 10 to 100 miles. Tap a pin for the website, phone, booking link and directions. Turn on Dump stations or Propane above the map to see those too. Planning a trip? Tap Campgrounds above the trip's own map instead — it shows how far each park is off your route, and Add to trip puts it between the right stops. You need to be signed in and have signal.
How do I find a campground along my trip?
Open the trip and tap Campgrounds above its map. Zoom to where you'd like to stay and tap Search this area, or turn on ◎ … mi on a stop and tap the yellow flag where that day's drive ends — press and hold the flag and drag it to search anywhere else. Tap a pin to see how far the park is off your route, then Add to trip: it goes in between the right two stops, not just at the end. The expand button opens the map full screen. On the computer planner it's the same: click Campgrounds on the map, or drag the flag.
A campground's details are wrong.
Listings come from Recreation.gov, OpenStreetMap and Google. Always confirm dates, rates and rig length with the park before you go — and email us if one is closed or isn't a campground, so we can fix it.
How does the trip planner work out fuel?
Add your MPG and fuel tank size in Settings → Your rig (on a towable, use your truck's MPG while towing). Each leg is priced at the government's weekly average gas or diesel price for that region, and a leg longer than about 85% of a tank says Plan a fuel stop.
Does it show the weather on my trip?
Yes. Set Leaving on the trip and each stop shows the day you'll arrive and the National Weather Service forecast for that day (within 7 days), plus any active weather alerts there.
Does it warn about wildfires and steep grades?
Yes. Active wildfires within 25 miles of your route get a red card and show on the map, from the National Interagency Fire Center. Long grades of about 4% or more for 1.5 miles get an orange card and arrows on the map. Grades come from elevation data and read a little gentler than road signs.
Can it show public land for boondocking?
Turn on Public land above the trip map to color BLM, Forest Service, park, wildlife, tribal, military and state land. Check that agency's rules before you camp.
Can I track what the trip costs?
Open Trip expenses on a trip to set a budget and log fuel, campgrounds, food and other costs. It shows what's left and syncs with the computer planner.
Does it work with no cell signal?
Your trips, checklists, maintenance and leveler all work offline. On a trip, tap Save for no signal to keep each campground's phone, website and the forecast on your phone. Campground search, routing and live weather need signal. For offline maps, download areas in Google Maps.
Can I plan trips with more than one vehicle?
Yes. Add vehicles in Settings → Your vehicles (or Vehicles… on the computer planner) — fuel, MPG, tank, height, weight and length. Each trip's Driving picker chooses one, and its fuel numbers follow that vehicle.
Can I send my trip to family?
Yes. Tap Share this trip and send the link. They see the route, stops, dates and campground phone numbers on a web page — never your costs or budget. Stop sharing turns the link off.
Can family see where I am?
Only if you turn on Show my arrivals for a shared trip, and then only when you arrive at or leave a stop — never a live location while you drive. Turn it off any time; that deletes the check-ins. Check-ins come from the iPhone app for now; Android gets them in an update.
How do arrival and departure reminders work?
They're on iPhone for now; Android gets them in an update. Turn them on for a trip and allow location Always. When you pull into a stop, you're reminded to run your Arrival checklist; leaving after a while, your Departure checklist. Location stays on your phone. If they don't come, check Settings → CampSavvy → Location is set to Always and notifications are on.
Why does it warn me about wind?
Gusts over 30 mph push RVs and trailers around. CampSavvy checks the forecast along your route for the day you'll drive each stretch and warns tall rigs early, plus everyone sees official wind alerts.
Can I add a stop that isn't a campground?
Yes. In Add a stop on a trip, type a street address (like 123 Main St, Moab, UT), a town or ZIP, or a place by name — a dealer, store, attraction or a friend's address. Names are searched near your last stop.
Can I use it for turn-by-turn navigation?
Yes — CampSavvy hands the route to your maps app. On a trip, tap Drive it in Google Maps to load every stop in order, or Directions under one stop (on iPhone you can pick Apple Maps or Google Maps). On the computer planner, click Open in Google Maps. Google Maps takes 11 stops at a time, so long trips open in parts.
How do I see a campground's phone or website from my trip?
On the phone, tap the campground's name on the trip or Details under it — or tap its pin on the trip's map. On the computer planner, click its name or Phone, website & more.
Are the routes safe for my RV?
We can't guarantee they are. They're regular car directions, so they don't account for your rig's height, weight or propane. Check for low bridges, propane-restricted tunnels and roads closed to RVs before you go — and the same goes for routes in Google Maps.
Can I plan on my computer?
Yes, with Pro. Go to getcampsavvy.com/trips. Sign in with Use my phone (on your phone: Settings → Use on a computer, then type the code shown) or Email me a code. Everything you plan saves to your account and appears under Trips on your phone. Full steps.
My computer trip isn't on my phone.
Make sure the phone is signed in to the same account (Settings → Account), then open Trips with signal — it checks for new trips each time it opens. The planner page should say Saved at the top.
How do I see how far I'll get in a day?
On the phone or the computer planner, set I drive about … miles a day, then tap ◎ … mi on a stop. You'll see a circle around the stop and a flag where that many miles along your route ends — click it to find campgrounds there.
Signed up with Apple's "Hide My Email" — how do I sign in on the computer?
Choose Use my phone on the planner page, then on your phone go to Settings → Use on a computer and type the code. No email needed.
Recalls and reports
How do recall alerts work?
Tap Safety recalls on Home or the Service tab and pick your RV's year, make and model (a VIN lookup often fills this in). CampSavvy checks NHTSA every day and notifies you when a new recall comes out. It's free. A listed recall may already be fixed on your RV — tap Check my VIN at NHTSA.
Can I share my service history?
With Pro, tap Service history report on the Service tab, choose whether to include photos and costs, and tap Create and share PDF — great for a buyer, a warranty company or a new shop.
Pro and purchases
I bought Pro but it's not unlocked.
Go to Settings → Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used to buy it.
How much is Pro?
$49.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $7.99 a month (no trial). There's no one-time lifetime price. The leveler, departure and arrival checklists, maintenance schedule, tanks and recall alerts stay free.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. To avoid being charged after the free trial, cancel before the 7 days are up. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play under their policies. We can't issue them directly.
Account and your data
Do I need an account?
No — you can skip signing in and use CampSavvy on one phone. Signing in backs up your rig, checklists, maintenance, service log and photos, lets you use them on any phone, and lets you connect your repair shop.
How do I sign in? There's no password.
Enter your email and we'll send you a 6-digit code, or use Sign in with Apple or Google. There's never a password to forget. On a computer, you can also approve the sign-in from your phone (Settings → Use on a computer).
I got a new phone.
Install CampSavvy, tap I already have an account on the welcome screen, and sign in the same way you did before. Your data comes back, and Pro does too.
Is it backing up?
Settings → Account shows when your last backup happened. Changes back up a few seconds after you make them whenever you have signal, and catch up automatically when you're back in range.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account. It permanently deletes your account, backed-up data and photos and disconnects your shops. See the privacy policy.
Your repair shop
How do I connect my repair shop?
Settings → Your repair shop → Connect a shop. Enter the email your shop has for you and they'll email you a code — or choose I have a code and enter the invite code your shop gave you. It works with shops that use RVOps and have CampSavvy turned on.
I didn't get a code from my shop.
The email has to match the one your shop has on file, and your shop has to have CampSavvy connections turned on. Check your spam folder, or ask your shop for an invite code from your customer page.
What does my shop see?
Only that you're connected. They don't see your checklists, tanks or service log. CampSavvy sees your RVs and finished work from the shop — not prices or payments.
